A permit is a job that's approved but not yet hired
When a homeowner pulls a permit, the work is planned, approved and funded. Most of the trades that job needs have not been called yet.
A permit to replace a roof is a gutter job nobody has quoted. A new build is concrete, landscaping and excavation waiting to happen. A change of occupancy is an electrician's afternoon.
Those permits are public records. We read every city we cover every night, look at what the work actually is, and send you only the ones that pay your trade.

Q&A
- Which areas do you cover?
- Detroit and Troy today. We're adding tri-county suburbs one at a time, because each one has to be worked out individually — the city's own published records where it has them, and an arrangement with its building department where it doesn't. If your area isn't live yet, say so and we'll tell you honestly when it will be — we'd rather lose the sale than take money for an empty list.
- How fresh are the leads?
- Half of last month's permits reached us within 2 days of the date they were issued — cities publish on their own timetable, and we read every one of them every night. A permit is on your page the week we read it, and it stays there.
- What are the 15 free leads?
- 15 real permits for the trade you pick, with the full address, set aside for you the moment you sign up. Not a sample, not a week's access that expires — they are yours to keep and to call, and we never ask for a card to hand them over. One exception, said out loud: in some of the counties we cover we hold fewer than 15 permits for Fencing, so a signup for that trade gets every one we have rather than 15.
- Will you sell the same lead to my competitor?
- Possibly, if they subscribe to the same trade in the same area. We don't claim exclusivity, because we couldn't honour it. Ask about an exclusive area and we'll quote it properly.
- What do I actually receive?
- A private page you sign into, listing every permit from the last two months that pays your trade in the counties you picked — date, address, permit type, described work, declared job value and permit number — plus a short email each Monday saying what is new. Mark a lead called, quoted or won and it stays on your list with your note on it for as long as you are working it. There is no file to download and no spreadsheet: the page is the product.
- Do I need to be technical?
- No. It's an email on Monday and a web page you sign into. Anything that opens a website will do.
- Can I cancel?
- Any time. Your 15 free leads stay in your account either way.
Where this data comes from
Building permits are public records. Where a city publishes its own we read what it publishes — Detroit through its official open-data service, the same records it publishes for anyone to read. Where a city doesn't publish them, we ask its building department for a permit report.
Where a city's records sit behind a portal whose terms forbid automated access, we don't take them. We ask the city instead, or we don't cover that city yet.
That matters to you for one practical reason: a lead source built on records obtained properly doesn't disappear one morning because somebody got a legal letter.
